8 Questions to ask a lender

One of the first things I always tell my buyers is to call a trusted lender before we even start the process of searching for homes. Most lenders only need a few minutes of your time to start the process - it sounds more daunting than it is. Ask your realtor or close friends if they have any lenders they recommend and do a little research on each lender you call. Working with local lenders will get your great customer service, a lender who knows the local market and great rates. If you need any recommendations, let me know Iā€™d be happy to send some your way.

Here are a few questions to ask a lender to get you started!

  1. What type of loan is best for me?

  2. What is the interest rate and annual percentage rate?

  3. Are there any discount points or origination fees?

  4. What are all of the costs associated with this loan?

  5. What is the loan estimate?

  6. Do you offer loan rate locks?

  7. How long does it take for loan approval?

  8. Do you guarantee on time closing?
