Selling your home? Do these things first.

One of the questions I get asked a lot is “what should I do to prepare my house to go on the market?” This is such a good question and one that we don’t want to overlook when prepping your house to go on the market to sell. I want to go over a few of the small things you can do that make a big difference to buyers.

  • First I recommend going room by room and decluttering, remove anything that distracts your eye from the flow of the room. This is a great time to donate things you haven’t used in years, or start packing the things you know you want to take with you but don’t need out on display for potential buyers!

  • Next up, look at your paint colors. Neutral colors and palettes are best. Paint any dramatically painted walls a neutral color to keep the attention off the color of the room and on the room itself. Also take some time to touch up the trim and wash down door handles and anywhere people touch doors often.

  • Dust your fans, baseboards, mantles, etc. All of the places that you skip on a regular basis could use a good dusting before you have a lot of people visiting your house!

  • Replace burned out light bulbs, bright rooms are much more inviting!

  • Organize your pantry, and storage spaces. This makes a difference!!

  • Remove appliances from kitchen counters, this always showcases how much counter space you really have.

These are cost-effective and easy enough to get done in a short amount of time, but they really make a big difference to potential home buyers!

Good luck!
